Monster as Metaphor: How to Use Timeless Story Elements to Hook Readers with a Timely Story
A monster is never just a monster. In this workshop, zombologist Gretchen Stull will explain how monsters have been used in stories throughout modern history to symbolize more deeply rooted cultural fears, and how you can use this knowledge in your own work to hook readers. Keep in mind, not all monsters are of the walking dead variety. Some take the form of the nice, quiet man next door (Norman Bates, anyone?), so this workshop isn't just for writers of paranormal romance or horror.
